Liberty Line 6/24/11 Apollo 17's Harrison Schmitt

We go back into space on the 1st Friday of Summer 2011 as Apollo 17 astronaut (and former Senator from New Mexico) Dr. Harrison Schmitt, joins us on the Liberty Line.

Dr. Schmitt was the last man to step on the moon as the Lunar Module Pilot for Apollo 17, and was the only geologist to visit the moon, as well as the only Apollo astronaut to have not served in the military.

We talk about his career leading up to the final moon mission, the state of NASA and space exploration today, private space flight, and his work on other public policy issues, including his board membership at the Heartland Institute!

We're wide-awake on this Wednesday's Liberty Line, as we've got two eye-opening guests.

First up is Terry Kalley from, an organization working to ensure access to effective medicines. Terry's wife is suffering from breast cancer, and the FDA has decided to pull the drug that's working for her from breast cancer treatments nationwide. The Liberty Line comes out swinging on Monday! First up is Capt. Buddy Guindon from Katie's Seafood in Galveston, TX. Buddy's a snapper boat captain, and he's on talking about using property rights to conserve and improve fisheries - a system known as "catch shares".

Then Dr. Leon Kass from the American Enterprise Institute joins us. He, his wife, and Diana Schaub have written a new book, "What So Proudly We Hail: The American Soul in Story, Speech and Song." We talk about the book and American exceptionalism!
